Innovation – From Farm to Table

In Rome, on June the 20th 2019, the Rome Business School and the Canadian Chamber in Italy joined forces in planning and hosting the ultimate event providing in-depth knowledge on the future of the agri-food sector: Innovation – From Farm to Table. In fact, it turned out to be much more than a panel presentation, with many illustrious speakers—such as Josè Salgado, President of the Canadian Chamber in Italy; Thin Lei Win, Food Security Correspondent at Thomson Reuters Foundation; Sonia Massari, Director of Gustolab International Food System and Sustainability; and Yannick Fiedler, Political Economist & Responsible Investment Specialist at United Nations FAO — tackling the complex subjects and challenges faced by this sector. It was a unique chance for the illustrious guests and stakeholders to converse and engage over many aspects of one of the most important topics of our time, and resulted in several crucial observations.

Among the topics being debated, the lack of sustainability of the current food chain was acknowledged, as was the need for effective solutions capable of being localized and adapted to every culture and environment, and the role played by technology in changing the status quo—an important but limited one, as real change can only happen through human resolution and ingenuity.

Hosting such an expert panel and working with so many inspiring people was a privilege.
